Temporary Spousal Support
Temporary Spousal Support, or support that is administered during divorce proceedings, is usually defined in Temporary Orders. This differs from alimony, the type of support that is administered after a divorce is finalized.
Determining whether you are due spousal support during your divorce proceedings depends on your financial circumstances, including:
- How is your home's mortgage paid every month?
- Which spouse pays for the car(s)?
- How much do you reasonably need to cover your cost of living?
- How will you have to change your lifestyle, if at all, to live while you are going through the divorce process?
The answers to these questions provide a good measure of the amount you can expect to receive during your divorce.
Filing for such Temporary Spousal Support is carried out in a process similar to filing Temporary Orders.
